Description:
There is something unique about the middle distance race known as The Mile for racers of all levels, distances and abilities in fitness and competitive aspects. Whatever your personal classification is, we are proud to announce the running of the first Micro Brew Mile in Quad City's history – a race that will feature the distinct camaraderie of the Quad City’s running community and the area’s renowned festivities.

On June 21, 2014, whether you consider yourself an elite runner or someone who runs as a leisure activity, the Micro Brew Mile will offer you an experience like no other race. After completing the one mile road race in any one of the various waves offered, you can celebrate your accomplishment by partaking in some of the best local (and perhaps a few non-local) hand crafted brews and great food while enjoying live musical entertainment.

The Open Wave - 4PM Start

Any runners looking to set a personal record or individuals who just want to have a great time with friends and fellow runners are invited to participate in this wave of runners. Any walkers who are able to maintain a 20:00 minute mile pace are also encouraged to join this wave.

The Competitive Wave - 4:20PM Comp Women, 4:30 PM Comp Men

The individuals who choose to run in this wave must meet the following criteria. Competitive male runners must be sub 6:00 minute milers while females must be sub 7:00 minute milers.

The High School Wave - 4:40 PM HS Girls, 4:50 PM HS Boys

This wave of runners will be scored according to cross country style running rules. Teams for the High School Wave of this one mile run will consist of five members or you can run as an individual for your High School.

The Elite Wave - 5:00 PM Elite Women, 5:10 PM Elite Men

This wave of runners will consist of individuals who submit times run within the last year. For males running in this category, times must show sub 5:00 minute miles and women must submit sub 6:00 minute miles.

6K - 5:30 PM Start

There will also be....

a flat and fast 6K road race located in Moline that will consist of three water stops, entertainment on the course and age group awards three deep in each age category. The top three male and female winners will receive cash prizes while the top three in each age group will win customized pint glasses (age permitted).

There is the option to participate in both races for at an additional cost however, you will only receive one shirt.

The Micro Brew Mile is partnering with the Chris VanSpeybroeck Memorial Scholarship. A portion of the race proceeds will be donated to this chosen charity.

Prizes

The top three overall fastest times (excluding any runners with either high school or college eligibility) will be awarded a cash prize.

The top five overall runners in each wave will win a customized, commemorative pint glass (unless under the age of 21). The High School team that ends the mile with the overall lowest score will receive a donation of $250.00 to their school’s Cross Country and Track Team. The top five overall high school runners will each receive a “Top 5” plaque for their achievement.

All runners that participate in the Micro Brew Mile will receive a limited edition Micro Brew tech-shirt.

As if the opportunity to take home any of these fantastic prizes wasn’t enough, don’t forget about the opportunity to join in the rocking post-race party where a live band will entertain your ears, while post-race snacks and refreshments will cure your hunger and quench your thirst. Remember for those 21 years and older, the great taste of local microbrews will be on hand! All awards will be given at the ceremony during this post-race portion of the event.
