Description:
There’s no race like Gnome! Come chill with the McHenry (County) Ultra Running Dudes and Dudettes, MUDD, on a fun and frosty run in Crystal Lake on January 10th, 2015. The Frozen Gnome's beautiful single-track course will take runners through the winter wonderland of Veteran Acres and Sterne’s Woods. Folks may choose either the 50K ultra run or the 10K race for speedsters. Gnome doubt about it, both courses will be tough.

The course is a 10k loop that will be repeated 5 times by the 50k runners. Enjoy butt slide hill, hot food, coffee, heat, and volunteers at the Gnome Depot Aid Station. The Frozen Gnome is everything you could wish for from a winter wonderland race!
Shirts and Awards

Registration is limited. We cannot guarantee shirts after December 24th. Sign up soon to be sure to get a Gnome shirt and miss the price increase!
*Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall Male and Female
*Age Group awards are 3 deep with 10 year spreads.

Park at the main lot of Veteran Acres north of 176 at 431 Walkup Road. The race start line is at the park shelter north of the tennis courts and baseball field.
The course is mainly single track trails on a lot of hills. It's a 10k loop that will be repeated 5 times for the 50k runners. There is one main aid station "The Gnome Depot" at the start-finish line that will be stocked with hot soup, homemade goodies, coffee and drinks. There is one unmanned aid station with sports drink on the course. The course is set up so spectators/crew will be able to see the runners quite a few times.

10k and 50k start 7:45 am
The cutoff for both races is 8 1/2 hours which will be 4:15 pm. We decided to give runners an extra 30 minutes of fun this year to complete the course.

The MUDD Ultra Running Dudes and Dudettes, MUDD, was founded in 2010. MUDD is a group of ultra and trail running friends who share a love of trails and distance running. The group is about FUN and welcomes runners of all levels. MUDD has weekly runs in Veteran Acres and Sterne’s Woods in Crystal Lake.

MUDD also hosts the Earth Day 50K & 15 mile in April and the Hennepin Hundred in September. For more information visit Muddrunner.com.

Where

Finding the starting line: 431 Walkup Road, Crystal Lake, IL 60014
Veteran Acres park is on Walkup Road a short distance north of Route 176.

Packet pick up will be at the park shelter north of the tennis courts beginning at 6:15 am. There are two parking lots on Walkup Road. The one farthest north is closest to the start but it is a smaller and will fill up quickly. The other lot is very large and a short walk to the start. If you arrive early for packet pick up and are looking for somewhere less Frozen Gnomey to hang out there is a Starbucks a couple of blocks away (so you will want to drive). The address is 40 N Williams Street, Suite A, Crystal Lake, IL 60014. There is also a Panera Bread Company at 6000 NW Highway (Route 14) in Crystal Lake.
