The POP Turkey Trot allows participants to partake in either a chip-timed 5k run or a 1-mile fun run/walk featuring a flat, fast course perfect for novice as well as experienced runners and walkers of all ages and abilities.
Event will start and end in Independence Grove Forest Preserve

Gear Check:
If you’re planning on using gear check, please bring your bag from packet pick-up to store your items. Please do not place valuables in your gear bags. Prince of Peace is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Course Location:
The POP Turkey Trot will be held at Independence Grove Forest Preserve, located at 16400 W. Buckley Rd., Libertyville, IL 60048.
Parking:
When entering the forest preserve, please turn Right and follow the road all the way toward Audubon Hall. There is plenty of parking in the lots closest to the start/finish.
Start Times:
5k 9:00am
1-Mile 9:15am
Timing:
The POP Turkey Trot is an officially timed event using the Chronotrack B-Tag system. These disposable chips do not need to be returned after the race. B-Tag chips are attached to the back side of each participant’s race number. Participants must cross the start and finish lines with the B-Tag secured to their race number to receive an official finish time. Each participant’s time does not start until he or she crosses the timing mat at the start of the race. For accuracy, please do not remove or modify the B-Tag in any way.
Weather:
The POP Turkey Trot will be held rain, snow or shine. Race will be delayed or canceled if lightning occurs.
Course Amenities:
There are separate indoor toilets for men and women available at the start/finish and also at the aid station on the 5k course at approximately mile 1.3.
Water will also be available on the 5k course at the aid station.
Mile markers on course.
Post-race food will be available at the finish line.
Age Group Awards:
Awards will be provided to the top 3 Male and Female 5k participants in the following age categories:
Under 10; 10 -14; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+
No Refunds:
Entries for the POP Turkey Trot are non-refundable. No refunds will be made on entry fees paid for this event under any circumstances. | | | | |
