| | | | Quote from Race Director Timo: "Michael Wardian has outlasted the competition and surged into a commanding lead. Michael has completed 9 laps and is currently in his last 10Km."
For the women... it's still a very close race between our top three runners who've all made it past Checkpoint 7: Carolyn Smith, Connie Gardner, Sonya Decker.

Vilas aid station captain here,
The tents are set up and holding up to the buffetting wind. Most runners are going through so fast that they take some Heed or water to drink and then only a hammer gel. So at this point early in the race when only 2-3 laps have been run most solo runners aren't looking for much aid. The soup and hot chocolate have started to be a big hit for those relay runners that have finished. The party atmosphere is 200 yards off from the finish line where there is a heated shelter and indoor bathrooms, but the real action is at the finish line where Timo (race director) is calling out runners names and getting the crowd into the cheering. It's encouraging to see the tight competition developing and only time will tell where it ends. Well, got to get back to the aid station.
Jason. |

| | | | The 2nd Annual Mad City got off under challenging conditions with tempertures of 31 degrees and a sputtering mix of snow and rain.
At 6:30am Honorary Race Director, Howard Nippert called the field to "set" and blew his whitle to send the runners on their journey... 10 laps around Lake Wingra.
Weather conditions are not expected to improve much today, but runner's spirits are high. |
