Unstable weather has become the story... thunderstorms and heavy sheets of rain have engulfed the entire breadth and width of the Kettle 100 Endurance Runs race course. The course has taken on a lot of water over the past 1/2 hour... but the course drains well. Race directors and volunteers are working out contingency plans to ensure the safety of all participants.

4 runners have made it past the 100 Kilometer checkpoint at the Nordic Center...
James Roche, 100 Mile Relay Team: Psychic Mary in 9:42:45.
Joel Eckberg, Solo 100 Miler: 10:26.
Mark Tanaka, Solo 100 Miler: ~11 hours
Christine Crawford, Solo 100 Kilometer: ~11 hours

Sorry for the delay since last posting... had difficulties with the aircard communications at Scuppernong Aid Station... then laptop batteries went dead.

Back at the Nordic Center, which is the Start / Finish area as well as the 100 Kilometer checkpoint. Electricity and good shelter here!

The hot and humid weather has slowed our field of runners... some have dropped out... will post a drop-list soon, but first must update the Scuppernong checkpoint with the listing of runners who've made it through. Also, will get more photos posted to our gallery.

More on the weather... reports of a tornado touching down with tennis-ball sized hail a couple of counties to our west. Warnings are all over the radio and we're under a tornado watch effective until 8:00 pm local time. For us, conditions are turbulent with strong gusting winds.
