Tremont Mini Triathlon Informational Sheet
July 23, 2016
100 yard swim/4 mile bike/ 1 mile run

The Tremont Mini Triathlon will be held on July 23, 2016 at 8:00 AM. The race includes a 100 yard serpentine swim in the Tremont Community Pool, then a flat 4 mile bike ride and finishes with a 1 mile run to the finish line in front of the pool facility. This event is tailored to the novice triathlete and will serve as a great introduction to triathlon for children and adults.

When you finish the swim, you will able to utilize the pool changing/rest rooms to dry off and change to biking and running clothes if you prefer. There is no locker facilities inside the changing/rest rooms. We recommend having a family member or friend hold your towel and dry clothes as locker availability is limited at the pool.

All ages are welcome and those wishing to participate as a relay team are welcome to do so.

An awards ceremony will follow after the last runner crosses the finish line.

NOTE: This event is NOT a chip or computer timed event. It will be manually timed. Any questions on timing, please contact the race director.

Post-race refreshments will be provided to all racers.

NOTE: Any individual/team age 11 years or older who receives outside assistance in the transition area will be penalized by being placed behind those who transitioned unassisted. This is to ensure a fair and even race for those who are participating. Please contact the race director with any questions.

Registration:
There will be NO race day registration; registration will be closed July 20, 2016 at Noon central time.

No shirts are guaranteed for registrations after July 10, 2016.

Fees:
Individual Pricing: $25 early bird gets the worm pricing thru midnight May 31, 2016, $35 early but not the worm pricing thru June 30, 2016, then $45 July 20, 2016 at Noon.

Relay Pricing : $50 early pricing thru midnight June 30, 2016, then $60 thru July 20, 2016, at Noon.

NOTE: No Shirts are guaranteed for registrations after July 10, 2016.
Shirts provided this year are athletic cut Next Level shirts, sizing can be viewed on their website http://www.nextlevelapparel.com/45/resources.htm , the shirts fit snug, so if you prefer a baggy fit shirt, please order a size up.

Packet Pickup & Race Marking:

Packet Pickup & Race Marking will be the day of the race, July 23, 2016 from 6:30 AM through 7:30 AM @ the main park pavilion across the street from the Tremont Community Pool facility. All individuals and relay members must report to be marked for the race during this time frame.

Race Identification

Packets will contain 1 race number. The race number must be worn on the front of the individual (visible by finish line workers) during the run portion of the race.
The bib number can be attached to your shirt with available pins or may be worn on a number belt during the run (and bike if desired) portion.
If your bib is destroyed or lost on the course, please let the finish line timing officials know your bib number as you cross the finish line.

Race Day Street Closures & Traffic Control

Most of the race course will be open to traffic and volunteers will be available at road crossings/turns to help monitor vehicle traffic and help racers stay on course.
The roads will be closed at the bike/run transition area and James Street will be closed for the finish line between Tazewell and Cullinan street.

The bike and run turnaround points will be noted by an orange cone and volunteers stationed to ensure racers stay on course.

Finish & Transition Area

Transition Area will be open for bike/equipment set up at 6:45 am day of the race. And will close promptly after the award ceremony. All bikes and equipment must be removed immediately after the awards ceremony.

Refund Policy

No refunds will be provided. At the discretion of the Race Director a timely Transfer arrangement may be possible. No last minute requests will be considered.

Weather Policy

No refunds will be provided due to weather. At the discretion of the Race Director, the entire race or portions of the race may be cancelled due to inclement weather to ensure the safety of our volunteers and participants.

Rules

Swim portion:
The swim is a serpentine swim. Be aware if someone is attempting to pass and be respectful of other racers in the water.

Transition Areas:
No riding of bikes in the transition area, bikes must be walked or jogged into and out of the area.
Any outside assistance provided to a participant who is 11 years or older will incur a penalty. Penalty is described earlier in the Awards section of the document

Bike portion:
Helmets with appropriately fastened chin straps are REQUIRED for the bike portion of the race. No helmet will result in immediate disqualification!
Ride your bike on the right side of your lane.
Keep three bike lengths between yourself and cyclist in front of you. Pass on the left of the cyclist in front, never on the right. Complete your pass within 15 seconds.
If passed, you must drop back to allow the three bike lengths between yourself and the cyclist in front of you.
Do not wear headphones or listening devices during the bike portion of the race.

Run portion:
You must wear your race number on the front of your body so it is easily visible (or have your number written on your chest by the race marking individuals) and readable by the finish line officials.
