There was a combo race of both full and half marathons on the board. Eileen's finish was 3:06:53 (placed 3rd in her division). My time was 3:19:42. It was a perfect day for this race in Kenosha, Wisconsin. We celebrated with a full color medals, brats and a cold beer/pop. There were 4,000 people signed up. On arrival we spotted the Oregon Track Team display at the airport! We were fortunate & thrilled to be given a tour of the University of Oregon's Track Town & Hayward Field by my family. He told the group that a new track and Field House upgrade are in the works. The Alderman said he remembered the Striders during his days with his Youth baseball team at Riis. The track was washed out with melted snow and rain. Overflowed on the sidewalk in portions north on the sidewalk. Pulled into the Riis parking lot and almost crashed the car seeing an adult rooster roaming the lot. It was looking for food, along with the squirrel population. Luckily, didn't see any coyotes over there. The Riis Stone Monument was scrubbed clean of graffiti due to Ken's efforts in having the city remove it. Thanks, Ken! P.S. Actually a 10 Miler finisher following Chicago's Perfect 10 Mile & 10K at Navy Pier. It was a nice race, but started late, saw no Gatorade or Poweraide as advertised. The drawbridge went up, and set back a few of our finishes-at the last mile. Saw spectacular views of Chicago, including the horse sculptures at the museum campus, stained glass at Navy Pier, AND rode the ferris wheel ($6).... Unfortunately, there were no finisher medals for 1,300 runners that completed the 26.2 mile course that BOA says they will investigate. Now, I'm convinced that means I'll have to run faster. Jul 4, 2009 Sep 24, 2009 10658 4 hrs ago Saturday May 2, 2009 9:30 am May 2nd was supposed to be a Saturday cross country race but due to the supersaturation of the course Fearless Leader switched it to another road race around the park. These photos were taken after the race. Great to have Tom Victorine back out at the park for a visit!
