Description:
Course Description:
Welcome to the ninth annual Blue Chevy Trail Classic. This is the second CITRA race to held at East Peoria’s scenic Farmdale Reservoir. There are two distance options: the half marathon and the 10k. The course is fast single track with roots, rocks, and creek crossings. Mild enough for a beginner, yet tough enough for experienced trail runners. The course runs in the opposite direction of the original Farmdale Trail Run, and the hills may seem less challenging.

About the Park
Farmdale Reservoir is Army Corps of Engineers land east of Peoria and the manager there has allowed the creation of a very nice system of trails. The ~20mile trail system is an excellent mix of several creek crossings, fast open stretches and tight, twisty single-track, with alot of vertical distance for you climbers.

This site is a normally dry reservoir and dam built by the Army Corps of Engineers for flood control on Farm Creek. The immediate value of this dam is to store flood waters that would otherwise flood parts of East Peoria, IL, which is just downstream from the dam. It is also part of the overall plan of the Corps of Engineers for flood control in the Illinois River and Mississippi River systems.

Directions to Farmdale Reservoir
Start/Finish Area:
The Start/Finish Area is located at the main parking lot at Farmdale Reservoir.
(GPS Coordinates: N 40 Degrees, 40.563 Minutes and W 089 Degrees, 30.086 Minutes)

From I-74/East Peoria:
Take the Washington Street exit and head east toward Washington, IL. Go just over 2 miles on Washington Street until you reach the stop light at Farmdale Road (notice the CVS Pharmacy, Huck's gas station, and McDonald's.) Turn right onto Farmdale Road and follow the winding road 1.25 miles. You will go through 4 railroad crossings. Just after the fourth railroad crossing you will see a sign for Farmdale Reservoir. Follow the road to the left and go through a railroad crossing (you guessed it) a fifth time! Shortly after this you come to a "Y" in the road where Farmdale Road veers to the left and becomes Bittersweet Road. Follow Bittersweet Road about 1 mile until you see the Farmdale Reservoir parking lot on your right.

From Washington, IL:
If you are headed west from Washington, IL, you will have to go through part of Sunnyland on IL Route 8. You will turn left on Summit Drive (stop light immediately following Sunnyland Plaza). Follow Summit Drive (eventually becomes Bittersweet Rd) for approx. 2 miles. You will go down a hill and see the Farmdale Reservoir parking lot on your left.
