Description:
[Logo: Mosquito Hill Endurance Run]Come run with us at our 4th annual Mosquito Hill Endurance Run on October 19th and 20th, 2019. Our race takes place at the Mosquito Hill Nature Center in New London, WI. Runners and walkers will journey through our 3.1 mile loop on trails in which you will travel though wetlands, prairies, a forest, and up to the top of Mosquito Hill. A great race for any trail runner of any skill level! Our trails are not technical and nice and wide.

This year we will offer a 3, 6, 12, and 24 hour option. A moonlight 5k, and a 24 hour relay event.

Our timed events are designed to allow participants to run or walk as many miles as they desire. This is a great way to set a new mileage PR for yourself regardless of your speed!

Our moonlight 5k allows people to discover the trail at night. Headlamps or flashlights are a must!

2019 Runner Information:

Location: Our race is located at Mosquito Hill Nature Center in New London, WI. The address is N3880 Rogers Road.
Parking: please park in the “overflow” (grass) parking lot adjacent to the paved parking lot.

Date: The race dates and start times are the following

5k- Saturday, October 19th at 7pm
3 hour- Saturday, October 19th at 10am
6 hour-Saturday, October 19th at 10am
12 hour- Saturday, October 19th at 10am
24 hour-Saturday, October 19th at 10am
24 hour relay, Saturday October 19th at 10am

Registration/Packet Pick-up: There will be NO same day registration. All registration will close three days before the race date. You can pick-up your packet anytime between 8:30am and 9:45am on Saturday or 6pm to 6:45 pm on Saturday for the 5k. In other words, arrive a little early before your race to receive your bib and race goodies. You can pick-up your race packet at the Start/Finish Line adjacent to the Nature Center building.
Awards: We will be giving awards to the first place male and female for each event. There are no age group awards. Before you leave the Nature Center, check inside to see if you won something in our cool prize raffle. All racers will be entered. Last year we had several racers leave without picking up their cool loot, don’t be that racer!

Food: All racers can look forward to pie and cider at the finish. 3/6/12 and 24 hour racers will have post- race turkey sandwiches and vegan/gluten free chili to look forward to.
Aid-Station: There will be one full stocked aid station at the start finish. Please bring a container for water as we will have limited cups. If you have any special requests for items you want at the aid station please contact your race director and she will see what she can do.

Course: Your course is a 5k loop that will be marked with flags. Each loop has approximately 350 feet of elevation gain. The course is very runnable with very few rocks and roots. This year we are adding reflective markers on some of the flags to make spotting the course in the dark easier. ALL runners except for the 3 hour will need to bring a flashlight or headlamp. 5k runners will not be allowed to start the race unless they bring a headlamp or flashlight. It is dark out there. Please be safe and watch your footing!

There will be 1 porta-potty at the half way mark of the course and 1 at the start/finish. The Nature Center Building will be open for bathroom use.

Timing: Our race is manually timed. It is your responsibility to make sure that our volunteers see you and count your lap. 5k runners will receive special instructions on race day to ensure they receive an accurate time.

Camping: Camping will be allowed near the start finish line for all racers. Please be mindful of the space you take up and the noise you make during the night hours.

Pacers: Pacers will be allowed during the entire race for the 24 hour solo event ONLY, except between 6:30pm and 9pm on Saturday. Your pacer can use the aid station but will not be allowed to carry your stuff for you. If your pacer is caught carrying your stuff, you will be disqualified.

Rules: The following offenses will result in automatic disqualification
-Alcohol use
-You cannot bring your pets
-Littering
-Not bringing a headlamp or flashlight when running in the dark
-Being rude to our volunteers
-Intentional course cutting
-having your pacer carry your stuff

Please note that we do not offer refunds or deferments, or bib exchanges. We can however bump you up or down in distance.

A special note 24 hour runners:
It’s the end of October, and it might be very cold at night. Hypothermia is a real thing and can hit a runner even at moderate temperatures. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE bring extra clothes… more than you think you need. Moisture management is key to success in a cold race so anytime your clothes get wet, change them. Our volunteers will be monitoring you very closely for any signs of hypothermia… don’t make us pull you.

A special note for all 3/6/12/24 hour runners:
This year you can run a mini lap if you do not have time to run a full lap. Instructions will be given at the start of your race for the mini lap option.

A special note for 24 hour teams:
You will be given ONE bib per team. It is your responsibility to transfer your bib to the runner on course (I recommend a race belt). Only one 24 hour team member is allowed on course at a time. All relay exchanges must be made at the main timing tent.

We look forward to seeing you all on October 19th and 20th!
