With a new wave of COVID-19 surging across the state of Illinois and the nation, the state of Illinois is committed to listening to public health experts and following science to keep people safe. The Riis Park Striders abide by State of Illinois "Tier 3 Resurgence Mitigations," which include: Outdoor group activities limited to 10 persons or less, participants/guests must wear face coverings at all times.
As such this year's Riis Park Turkey Trot has been cancelled to the general public. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to next year's Riis Park Turkey Trot, which we're sure will prove an exuberant reunion for all runners and turkeys!

Riis Park Striders Turkey Trot... longest running Thanksgiving Day race in Chicagoland!
Join the Riis Park Striders on Thanksgiving for our 50th year! To celebrate this Riis Park Striders' milestone we're hosting our two annual event distances under the guidelines of Restore Illinois Phase 4 with mandatory safety measures and precautions.

* 25th Annual Joe Mittel Memorial 1-Mile event, with socially distanced wave starts beginning at 9:00 am.
* 50th Annual Dick King 5,000 Meter Championship, with socially distanced wave starts beginning at 9:15 am.

Online registration is open through Wed Nov 25th. Get signed up by clicking the "Registration" tab (above) or "R" icon (below). Race-day registration will be available on Thanksgiving morning at the Riis Park field house (southeast corner of the park) starting at 8:00 am. Commemorative race shirts are optional and available while supplies last.

Awards: Ribbons to top five finishers in each age divisions. Awards to top teams. Gift certificates and other special prizes!

Age Divisions: 6-12, 13-18, 20-24, 25-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

Chip Timing: Near real-time results for all participants, and 5-member teams in the 5,000 meter championship.

Stay for the awards ceremony and post-race refreshments. Non-perishable Food for the Hungry collection appreciated.

Riis Park is located at 6100 W Fullerton Ave (east of the Brickyard shopping center). Free parking is available on nearby streets and park lots. All ages, abilities, and walkers are welcome... Run with Us and Enjoy!
