Striders ROCKED the Starved Rock County Marathon
Wow! What a race. Three Striders ROCKED the Starved Rock County Marathon! Eileen and I ran the Half Marathon: Eileen at 2:59:40 (1st in age group), Karen at 3:31.21. Chris Hita ran the Full Marathon (5:07:32). The fans, volunteers, city and race officials were fantastic. The road was etched with the scent of wild honeysuckle and blooming lilacs. The start was in historic Washington Park in Ottawa, Illinois, site of the first Lincoln-Douglas debate. In addition to our race tee in our packets, we received our medals, and bonus finisher tees on completion of the race. Storms drenched some of us on a portion of the day, but that didn't phase our desire to cross the finish line.
