Chicago Full Moon Run
Inaugural 5-Km and 1-Mile Road Race Under the Full Moon
A wonderful blue-sky-late-afternoon with lazy summer breezes hung over Circle Avenue while enthusiastic volunteers gathered for our inaugural Chicago Full Moon Run. As afternoon surrendered to evening in Norwood Park our volunteers donned bright orange vests and reported for duty... some at the check-in tables, some at road crossings, a couple for bike patrol, others at our finish line area. Eager runners arrived and made their way through packet pickup to our starting area. The start of our race
would not be delayed
Because she was first to register and because she's loved at all running events... Riis Park Strider Eileen Ferguson was issued the coveted "bib number 1".
At precisely 7:45 pm
... Race Director Emeritus Michael Bastian sounded the air horn and sent 111 participants on their way, in a clockwise direction to cover 5 kilometers / three laps of Circle Avenue in our inaugural "Chicago Full Moon Run". Five minutes later Mike blew the horn again... this time starting 20 participants in our first-ever "1 Mile Lunar Orbit".
Congratulations to our top runners...
