Hoosier Burn Camp 5K Run

It's the second year for Merrillville's Hoosier Burn Camp 5K Run, held near on the campus of Merrillville High School and the nearby streets. Directed by firefighter, Patrick Westbury and his team of volunteers this charity race donates all proceeds to the Hoosier Burn Camp of Indiana, "a nonprofit organization committed to providing life-changing experiences for young people who have suffered the physical and emotional trauma associated with a severe burn injury."
Conditions at race time, 10:00 am CDT: sunny, 56° F, SSE winds at 6 mph with gusts of 10 mph.
Claire Mitsch, local cross country runner from a nearby school, led all runners, finishing in a new personal record of 19:50.9. A total of 39 participants made the finish line of the 5k.
