Coronavirus considerations
All in attendance (runners, volunteers, crew, spectators) may be required to wear facial coverings/masks (while not running), and observe 6-feet social distancing practices as prescribed by the guidelines of Restore Illinois Phase 4. Runners are subject to a no-touch forehead temperature screening at check in. Facial coverings/masks are especially important around the aid stations, drop bag area, and when in the start/finish areas - basically whenever you are not on the lakefront path course. You will need to bring your own facial covering/mask. We will have hand sanitizer, wipes, etc. available at the aid stations.

Spectators and Crew Support
In order to be consistent with USATF Rules and Regulations, crew support providing food and hydration is only allowed at the designated aid stations, including the unmanned middle aid station.

Aid Stations
Three aid stations, serving both the 50-Miler and the 50K, located on the Lakefront Trail at:
• Unmanned water only aid station at Recreation Drive and Belmont Harbor Drive (south of the Totem Pole), just west of entrance into the Belmont Harbor Drive Parking Lot (2.5 miles from start/finish/north turnaround).
• North Avenue Beach, just west of the North Avenue Beach House, and east of the Parking Lot (5.2 miles from start/finish/north turnaround).
• There is also an aid station and drop bag at the start/finish area, at the north turnaround spot.

Aid stations at the north and south turnarounds will have water, Tailwind, Coke, Mountain Dew, Ginger Ale. For food we will have assorted cookies, chips, pretzels, M&M’s, nuts, and some other goodies. Volunteers will be at the aid stations to handle the drink and food items.

WE ARE GOING CUPLESS!!! You will be provided with one, reusable, foldable silicon cup for water, Tailwind, and soda. We also strongly encourage you to bring your own hand held water bottle, hydration bottles and vest, Camelback, etc.

You will have access to your drop bag at each north turnaround loop, so if you are not comfortable with using the aid station supplies, please bring your own supplies and/or have your crew help support you. Note that the aid stations do not have energy gels, so plan accordingly.

Restrooms
We will have portable restrooms located near the start/finish areas and at the North Ave Beach House aid station. There are no other facilities on the course. Restroom facilities/buildings maintained by the Chicago Park District are scheduled to be closed before October 30th.

Drop Bag Areas
There will be large designated drop bag areas in the start/finish area in order to help with social distancing. The drop bag areas will be tarps, and they will be open to the elements. The extra space should allow everyone to have their own space without being too close to each other. Please do not crowd the space and do not touch/move other people’s stuff.

I have always found that using a small cooler works great as a drop bag. That gives you something protected from the elements, and if it is a hard-sided cooler, it gives you a place to sit, if needed.

Packet Pickup / Runner Check-In
All participants must check in on race morning prior to the start of their event. Packet pickup will take place at the race start/finish area, Foster Avenue Beach House. Packet pickup will begin at 6:30am and conclude prior to the start of each event.

At packet pickup, you will receive a timing chip, your bib number, pins, race shirt, and reusable silicon cup. Your race bib number needs to be visible at all times.

Awards
Everyone will receive a tech shirt. All 50K finishers (including early starters) will receive a finishers' medal. Belt buckles will be awarded to 50 mile runners who complete the race within the 11-hour time limit (early starters will also receive belt buckles if they complete the entire distance before the course closes). First place overall male and female for each event distance will earn a very special recognition award.

Early Starters
If you would like to start early for either race, please contact me at ChicagoLakefrontRD@gmail.com to let me know. We must keep track of who is starting early.

Parking
There is plenty of parking at the Foster Avenue Beach House location. There is a large parking lot immediately south of the Foster Avenue Beach House and additional parking east of the soccer fields south of the beach house. There is free parking along the soccer fields south of the beach house along N Simonds Drive. Parking in the parking lots is paid parking using the Park Chicago app or the meter stations.
