Race week is upon us and we're looking forward to seeing all Chicago Lakefront Ultras runners and volunteers this Saturday at Jackson Park's 63rd Street Beach House! During the course of this week two email alert messages will be sent to all registered participants; Tuesday morning and Friday evening. Alerts will include race-week details, rules of competition, and updated racecourse conditions. Please watch for race alerts to arrive via email. All packet pickup will take place onsite at our start/finish area, 63rd Street Beach House on race morning, beginning at 7:30 am CDT.
Welcome to Chicago's longest running ultra race...

All events of this Chicago Lakefront Ultras start and finish at Jackson Park's 63rd Street Beach House.

Back by popular demand...
For spring 2024 we're offering three event distance choices to encourage greater participation in Chicago Lakefront Ultras. You may choose to race our traditional `50 Kilometer Ultramarathon` in its 24th year; race our second-year `13.1 Mile Half Marathon`; or come out for our fully supported `20.7 Mile Buildup` run.
Chicago Lakefront Ultras 50 Kilometer...
24th annual running, with its race start time of 8:30am. The racecourse consists of three, 10.3-mile out-and-back laps on the pedestrian path of the Chicago Lakefront Trail.
• Start / Finish and "South Turnaround" is located at the 63rd Street Beach House.
• "North Turnaround" is located about 1/4 mile north of the 31st Street Beach on the Lakefront Trail.

Chicago Lakefront Ultras Half Marathon...
2nd annual running, with its race start time of 9:00am. Follow same racecourse as the 50K route, but with one "Short" lap and one "Long" lap.
• Start / Finish and "South Turnaround" is located at the 63rd Street Beach House.
• Short lap - first lap goes out around Promontory Point (1.4 miles out) and returns to the 63rd Street Beach House (2.7 miles).
• Long lap - second lap follows the full 50K course with the "North Turnaround" located about 1/4 mile north of the 31st Street Beach on the Lakefront Trail, and returns to finish at the 63rd Street Beach House.

Chicago Lakefront Ultras 20.7-Mile Build-Up Run...
2nd annual running, with its race start time of 9:00am. Follow same racecourse as the 50K route, but complete only two laps (20.7 miles total). You may run longer if you have a different target distance, but your chip time and results will be based upon completing 20.7 miles.
• Start / Finish and "South Turnaround" is located at the 63rd Street Beach House.
• "North Turnaround" is located about 1/4 mile north of the 31st Street Beach on the Lakefront Trail.
Packet Pickup / Runner Check-In...
All participants must check in on race morning prior to the start of their event. Packet pickup will take place near the race start/finish area at 63rd Street Beach House. Packet pickup will begin at 7:30am and conclude prior to the start of each event distance. At packet pickup, you will sign a race waiver and receive your timing chip ankle band, bib number, pins, race shirt. Your race number needs to be visible at all times on the front of your body.
Timing and Scoring...
All runners will be issued a bib number and matching timing chip. Wear your race number on the front of your body. Wear your assigned timing chip as instructed at runner check-in. At completion of each full out-n-back lap cross over the timing mats that will be deployed at the start/finish area. Be sure to return your timing chip at completion of your race. Runner splits will be updated in near real-time under our "Webcast" and "Results" tabs above.
Attention 50K and Half Marathon runners...
If your race intentions include the possibility of establishing a USA Track and Field `Open` or `Age Group` record, please notify us at point of registration: info@chicagoultra.org
Aid Stations / Turnarounds...
Aid stations will be volunteer-staffed, fully stocked with fluids, fruit, and high-energy snacks to keep you going. Aid stations may not have energy gels; plan accordingly.
• Jackson Park, 63rd Street Beach House serves as our start/finish and "South Turnaround" aid station. This is a volunteer-staffed, fully-stocked station. Runners will have access to their drop bags at this location.
• Burnham Park, located near Oakwood Blvd/39th St, west side of pedestrian path serves as our midway station, which runners will pass through twice on each 10.3-mile lap. This is a volunteer-staffed, fully-stocked station. Its distance is 3.6 miles from the 63rd Street Beach House, and 3.0 miles round trip to/from the North Turnaround point.
• "North Turnaround", located approximately 1/4 mile north of 31st Street Beach on the pedestrian path marks the northern-most point of our racecourse. There is no aid station; keep an eye open for the markings, make a U-turn, and head back south on the path.
Drop Bag Area...
There will be a designated drop bag area near the start/finish at 63rd Street Beach House, which provides access to runners' gear at completion of each out-n-back lap. Drop bags might not be covered, opened to elements of the weather, so consider water-proof packing.
Greener with your help...
In the spirit of eliminating one-use landfill waste, Chicago Lakefront Ultras encourages all runners to participate with hydration methods. Please bring your own water bottle, vest, reusable cup, etc. At runner check-in participants may request a foldable silicon cup, which is ideal for carrying and refilling at aid stations.
Early Starters...
If you would like to start early you must make a formal request. Please contact us such that we can record your intentions. Early starters might not qualify for overall or age group awards. Send your early-start request to: info@chicagoultra.org
Restrooms...
We'll have portable restrooms at our two primary aid stations; Jackson Park and Burnham Park. Along the racecourse you might find additional facilities that are maintained by the Chicago Park District. Depending upon seasonal conditions these CPD facilities may or may not be opened.
Awards...
All participants may request a gender-specific race shirt at point of registration. 50K and Half Marathon finishers (including early starters) will earn a finishers' medal with race-date lanyard. First place overall male and female will earn a very special recognition award. Age group achievers will earn pint-glass podium awards based upon 10-year divisions and depth of participation.
Spectators and Crew Support...
With regards to USATF Rules and Regulations, crew support is only allowed at official/designated aid stations. Crews and spectators must be aware/careful/considerate of others, such as pedestrians, runners, bikers as the lakefront path is open to the general public.
Parking...
Ample parking exists south of the 63rd Street Beach House, along with overflow parking lots on Hayes Drive west of Lake Shore Drive. There is no free parking along Hayes Drive. All nearby lots are paid parking using the Park Chicago app, or onsite kiosks.
Coronavirus considerations...
Where mandated by the Chicago Park District, all participants will be subject to safety protocols.
