| | | | | | Race Information | | | Description: | | | | | “The true meaning of life is to plant trees under whose shade you do not expect to sit.” This race honors Corey j. Wilcox, who passed in 2022 at age 45 of Pancreatic cancer. Corey's courage lives on through the love of sport, nature and the community. Proceeds flow through the Wyldfire Foundation to the Kettle Moraine State Forest Alliance for conservation and trail improvement projects. https://kmsfa.blogspot.com/
Distances: 5K, 10K, 20K, 50K. The 5K is a fun run (no timing or awards), and walkers are welcome as are on leash dogs as permitted by state park rules.
Course: The run begins in the main parking lot at the North Shelter. It is a 10K looped course for the 10K, 20K and 50K distances. The 5k is out and back. The course is semi-hilly, with mostly wide trail in woods and prairie, with some gravel bike path sections. All distances pass Corey’s memorial Burr Oak tree.
Aid Stations: The North Shelter station will have a wide assortment of typical race food and fluids.
T-shirts: Pre-registered individuals will receive a high-quality tee, male or female cut; shirts not guaranteed for race-day registrations.
11am-4pm post-run gathering at North Shelter; please bring a dish/snack to pass and your beverage of choice to enjoy with others as people complete their chosen distance.
On-line registration closes at Noon on Monday, April 21nd; race-day registration will be available. For those with economic need, please contact the Race Director - we'd still love to see you. | | | | |
