The roads of Whitewater, Wisconsin have a friendly new footrace, skillfully directed by the team of Stacey Kincaid, Kelly Davis, and Thayer Coburn along with their enthusiastic group of volunteers. The Irvin L. Young Memorial Library served as host site, for which this race is a fundraiser.
Participants were greeted with cool conditions, temperatures in the uppper-50°F, ideal for road-running, followed by a slight, soft sprinkle immediately after the 1-mile fun run/walk. The 5-km started at 9:30 am and had official top performances by Griffin Schroeder, male, 27, Whitewater in 18:59.3, and Megan Gang, female, 22, Fort Atkinson in 21:34.7. At 10:35 am the 1-mile fun runners took to streets, where the unofficial time of 5:50 was observed to be first across the finish line. Afterward, all participants were treated to refreshments, danceable tunes over the p.a. system, and even an inflatable castle to amuse "the lil-ones."
