Run Dirty 5K/10K: It Never Rains in Sunny Indiana!
Sunday August 3rd, 2014
How does the song go? "It never rains in Southern California"? (Hence the drought?) Well, it never seems to rain in Lemon Lake County Park, Crown Point, either. Certainly not on the first Sunday of August, at any rate. Not for quite a few years now! In fact, it never even seems to "mist" during a Misty Chandos event! All the more reason to note this on your race calendar for next year. We can't remember when climactic conditions for the Run Dirty 5K/10K weren't perfect!
Although the weather was pretty easy to take, the course itself was a tad tougher. At least this is what the finishers were saying. Mud? Dirt? Well, these things might not be caused by rain, but they ARE caused by creek (maybe rain causes the creek?) and all the runners MUST run thru the creek! Which, of course, might also explain the conditions of legs and shoes, as seen on the following web page full of photos.
Everyone said that everything about this event was spot-on, well-organized, the course was well-marked, and we heard no complaints. Everything seemed to go smooth as ooze. ;-) No one apparently tried to defy our popular Race Director and "test" her start-line instruction that: If you suddenly decide mid-race to change distances, you CAN'T! So nobody changed "can~do's" in the middle of the stream, as it were. Everybody ran the distance they signed up for, and so the Results were spot-on as well. Go ahead and look them up! You can click on them from RunRace's Home Page. Check out some of those amazingly fast times!!!
We tried to take a ton of pictures, capturing "on disk" as many participants as possible. Both cameras that we had, however, at various times decided to act goofy, so we failed to "click" everybody, and these that we do have are downsized for "website convenience." If you see yourself and would like the much bigger, better, fully-pixilated and highly-resolutioned version, all you need to do is email and ask. We're happy to send "the big picture" for free!
Good news! As of right now, ALL of our Run Dirty 5K/10K photographs are on the website. [Some were delayed. Thanks for your patience!] You can see them all by clicking on the next tab "View Photos."
RunRace's most hearty congratulations go out to all the finishers, and our heartfelt thanks is extended to everyone involved with making the Run Dirty 5K/10K happen: Misty and her crew, all the helpful volunteers, course marshals, Fleet Feet Sports, the Calumet Region Striders running club, and of course The Water-and-Gatorade Man! (His pic is on the next page as well.)
All in all, "a splendid time was guaranteed for all" and it actually happened! We hope to see everyone next year in early August when, once again, those Indy rainmakers promise to hold off and keep the weather perfect!
