2021 Chicago Full Moon Run
Tenth Annual 5-Km and 1-Mile Charity Race Under the Full Moon
... our tenth year, and
Due to the languishing worldwide pandemic of Coronavirus/COVID-19 we were once again off the roads of Norwood Park, and back to cross country racing on a 5-kilometer grass loop that scenically winds the tree-lined forest preserve groves of Bunker Hill and Caldwell Woods. In accordance with guidelines of
Forest Preserves of Cook County - COVID-19 Precautions
, permitting allowed 99 in attendance for our afternoon/evening of racing. Taking safety precautions further we set up runner-preferred-spacing wave starts, which commenced at 3:00 pm, and concluded at 6:30 pm with our
Big Dog Wave

We marked the racecourse on Tuesday, from 2:30 - 5:00 pm. In direction of running... Orange wire flags on runners' right, Yellow/Pink wire flags on runners' left.
Come race day... random wire flags were uprooted/repositioned by saboteurs, which necessitated replacing, and called for
our first three waves to ensure runners would
stay on course
. Volunteers, Michael Glennon and Claudia Boyle arrived early for set up and
Runner Check-In / Packet Pickup
. Meanwhile, the Maurer family travelled down from North Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin with Jason managing equipment of the start/finish area, and Margaret, Clare, Sean, and Grace registered in the 5-Km featured event.
Post race... participants enjoyed the evening's early moonrise, along with refreshments of bottled water / sports drink, local beer, and mini Moon Pies.
Congratulations to our top runners...
