Fourteenth Annual 5-Km and 1-Mile Charity Race Under the Full Moon

Our Fourteenth year turned had the most finishers since pre-pandemic times...

finishers. In the 5-Km... last year's 3rd place, James Weissensel was Top Male Overall; 3-time finisher, Isla Craig Naples was Top Female Overall. At the race-day age of 5, our youngest finishers were Rhett Bode (Happy Birthday!) and Rex Pope, both in the 1-Mile Lunar Orbit. Our eldest finishers were Chicago Full Moon Run 5-Km veterans and Riis Park Striders, Eileen Ferguson and Ken Dietz

We marked the racecourse Wednesday with a combination of stick-on-pavement-color-coded-arrows and matching color-coded-wire-flags at intersections. Race-day set up began at 4:00 pm along the parkway of Hurlbut St within Norwood Park, near the finish area. Chris Whilite of Dick Pond Athletics managed a pop-up market of shoes and accessories for runner must-haves. Runner check-in and packet pickup opened at 6:00 pm and ran right up to 7:30 pm. Featured Event 5-Km racing began at 7:39:38 with a blast of the air horn by co-RD Michelle Thom. The 1-Mile Lunar Orbit started precisely five minutes later.
